FAQS
Starting Therapy
-
Start with a free 15-minute consultation. We'll talk a little about what brings you here, answer your questions, and see if working together feels right. From there, we can talk about scheduling and what comes next.
-
Think of it as a chance to meet before committing to therapy. You can tell me a little about what you're looking for, ask whatever questions you have, and get a sense of how I work. I'll have a few questions for you, too.
There's no expectation that you'll have your entire life story ready in 15 minutes.
-
Yes. I offer therapy entirely online through a secure video platform. You can meet with me from a private, comfortable space while physically located in California, Florida, Louisiana, or Puerto Rico.
-
Sessions are held by secure video. You need to be physically located in California, Florida, Louisiana, or Puerto Rico during your appointment.
-
Not at all. Some people come in knowing exactly what they want to talk about. Others have a general sense that something isn't working, but aren't quite sure what to make of it yet.
We can start wherever you are and figure out the rest together.
You might know exactly what you're looking for. You might have a few questions. Or you might just be curious about how this whole therapy thing works. Here's a little more about what the process looks like.
FAQS
Fees & Policies
The practical details: scheduling, fees, insurance, and a few things worth knowing before we get started.
-
We’ll talk through session length and scheduling during your consultation.
Some clients prefer a standing weekly appointment, while others need more flexibility. We’ll find a rhythm that works for you.
-
Individual sessions are $200 and couples sessions are $200.
A limited number of reduced-fee appointments are available based on financial need. You're welcome to ask about availability during your consultation.
-
I offer private-pay therapy and do not bill insurance directly. You pay the session fee in full. I can provide a monthly superbill for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Coverage and reimbursement depend on your exact plan; please confirm benefits directly with your insurer.
-
Some PPO or other plans from Blue Cross Blue Shield companies, Aetna, Cigna, or UnitedHealthcare may include out-of-network benefits. These are examples to ask about, not insurers I accept, and the insurer’s name alone does not establish coverage. Before booking, ask your insurer whether your exact plan covers out-of-network psychotherapy with an LCSW and secure video visits while you are in California, Florida, Louisiana, or Puerto Rico. Confirm any provider-location rules, deductible, allowed amount, reimbursement percentage, prior authorization, diagnosis requirements, session limits, and superbill submission deadlines. If you are seeking couples therapy, ask about that service specifically. Request written confirmation or a call reference number. A superbill does not guarantee reimbursement.
-
Show up, be willing to have a conversation, and bring whatever you're comfortable bringing that day. You don't need to prepare anything or have the right answers. Therapy is a collaborative process, and we'll figure out what that looks like for you as we go.

General Questions
A few other things you might be wondering. If you don’t see your question here, feel free to reach out. I’m happy to answer it.
-
That's worth talking about. I'm interested in what your previous experience was like, what worked, what didn't, and what you might want to do differently this time. We can use that information to think about what might be helpful moving forward.
-
I work with adults and couples on things like ADHD, anxiety, relationships, and life transitions. My work also includes men's mental health, women's midlife and perimenopause, and the ways past experiences can shape how we think, feel, and relate to other people.
These aren't always separate issues, and you don't have to figure out which category you fit into before reaching out. We'll start with what's bringing you here.
-
I ask questions, look for patterns, and help you make sense of what's happening and why. We'll build awareness, develop practical skills, work on boundaries, and figure out what you want to do differently.
My style is conversational and down-to-earth. Therapy doesn't have to feel overly clinical to be meaningful, and insight is only useful if we can do something with it.
-
Yes. Whether you're having the same argument for the hundredth time, struggling to understand each other, or feeling more like roommates than partners, couples therapy gives us a place to look at what's happening between you.
We'll work on understanding the patterns, improving communication, and finding ways to move forward that make sense for both of you.
-
That's part of why the consultation is so important. You can ask questions, get a feel for how I work, and tell me a little about what you're looking for. You don't have to make a decision on the spot. Take some time to think about it and see how you feel.
