COUPLES THERAPY
You care about each other. Something still isn’t working.
Maybe you keep having the same argument. Maybe you’ve stopped having it, and the quiet doesn’t feel much better.
Couples therapy gives us room to understand what keeps happening between you—and practice something different.
Same argument. Different Tuesday.
It starts with dishes, a text, money, or who was supposed to remember the thing.
Somewhere along the way, you’re having a much older conversation: whether you matter, whether you can rely on each other, whether there’s room for what you need.
One of you pushes to resolve it. The other needs space. You both leave feeling misunderstood, and neither of you particularly likes how you handled it.
We’ll slow that down enough to see what’s happening, including the parts that are easy to miss when you’re right in the middle of it.
What brings you here?
The conversations that go nowhere
You explain, defend, repeat yourself, or shut down. Somehow, more talking hasn’t led to more understanding.
The responsibilities you keep renegotiating
Parenting, money, work, sex, household tasks, and the mental load can become places where deeper frustrations show up.
The changes you’re navigating together
A move, parenthood, midlife, or a shift in work or identity can change what each of you needs from the relationship.
The distance that’s become familiar
You’re managing a household and keeping things moving, but feeling close takes more effort than it used to.
Understanding each other is a start. Then we practice.
I’m an active therapist. I’ll ask questions, notice patterns, and help you work through conversations that tend to get away from you at home.
My approach draws from Relational Life Therapy and Gottman Method Couples Therapy. We look at how each of you responds under stress, what those responses are trying to protect, and how they affect the relationship. Read more about how I work.
There’s room for compassion and accountability. That includes being specific about each person’s behavior rather than assuming every problem is equally shared.
We’ll practice asking clearly, listening without immediately preparing a defense, setting boundaries, and finding your way back after conflict. The work needs to be useful when you’re back in your actual life. If adult ADHD is part of your relationship, we can make room for that too.
A few things you may be wondering
-
No. You can come because something feels off, because a recurring issue is getting harder to ignore, or because you want to care for the relationship before the distance grows.
-
That’s useful to talk about from the beginning. We’ll make room for each person’s perspective and clarify what you’re hoping for, including where those hopes differ.
-
I’ll be direct about what I notice, including behavior that’s making things harder. We’ll spend our time understanding what happened, its impact, and what each of you can do next.
-
Sessions are held by secure video. Both partners need to be physically located in California, Florida, Louisiana, or Puerto Rico during the appointment. We’ll discuss privacy, logistics, and whether online couples work fits your situation.
-
I offer private-pay therapy and do not bill insurance directly. Current fees and payment details are listed on the main FAQs page. If you’re considering out-of-network reimbursement, ask your insurer specifically about coverage for couples therapy.
Let’s start with a conversation.
